A Reflection…(of sorts)

On this Memorial Day our nation will be filled with the smell of BBQ grills, the sounds of laughter and fireworks, and the comfort of family gatherings for the first time in many months. But today is Memorial Day. It is a day set aside to honor those who died in service to our country. So today, I want to offer my condolences to all families who have lost sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, aunts or uncles to war or other military service. We are grateful for the sacrifices your loved ones made in defending our country. We are grateful for their heroism. We stand with you this day and every day in grief that we continue to live in a world where war is an accepted practice. Too many young lives have been lost. Too many children have grown up without a mom or a dad. Too many mothers and fathers have felt the anguish of losing a child. Too many.

On this Memorial Day, I have no words of wisdom. No words that will comfort the pain and grief of deep loss. No words.

Peace,

Pastor Beth
