One of the great gifts of Thanksgiving is that it opens up a time when if we choose, we can express our gratitude for the people and things in our lives. I think that one fact alone is why I am so sad that Thanksgiving seems to be forgotten between all the wildness of Halloween and the frenzied chaos of Christmas. Sandwiched between these two very large holidays, is this wonderful pause.
And that is exactly what Thanksgiving is, a pause. It is a time we can reset our priorities and recognize what is important to us. That is of course if we choose to take a moment to pause.
I know everyone is busy today, so my post, the first in a while will be short and I will cut straight to the chase. Take the pause. Your body, mind and spirit need it. Take the pause, your well-being and satisfaction with life in general need it. Take the pause and say thank you for all you have.
For those who I know whose lives are going sideways right now, take the pause and think about the good in your life. Even if it takes a hot minute to come up with something. For those who are struggling with difficult relationships or who might be alone today, take the pause and recognize this is one day out of years of days in your life.
My pause is this: I am grateful for all my family and friends. I am grateful that I have enough. I do not go hungry, I have a home for shelter, I have support for the crazy things I think to do, I have love and most of all I have God in my life. I will savor today.
