I am a licensed local pastor in the Methodist denomination and the church I serve is part of the Florida conference. I have four children, all grown and five grandchildren. I also have three stepchildren. I am very blessed with a wonderful and loving family system.
I went back to school in 2002 while working full time and being a single mom. I graduated with my BA in Business Administration with a minor in communications from the University of Central Florida. Go Knights! It was in my final year at UCF that I felt God was calling me into ministry and after wrestling with that call, I enrolled and was accepted into the MDiv program at Asbury Theological Seminary. I graduated in 2013 and in June of 2016 was licensed as a local pastor. I now serve as the Executive Pastor at Grace United Methodist Church in Merritt Island Florida.
I had the wonderful experience of growing up on a farm in a small community near Galion, Ohio and I have many relatives that still live in the area. I go back to Ohio where my roots run deep as often as I can. Ohio holds a special place in my heart, and it is where I go to find peace from the chaos of life. So much so that my husband and I have a getaway home there and, when I retire, we will split our time between Florida and Ohio.
My life on the farm instilled a deep love of nature and animals. I love to garden, although I find gardening in Florida a challenge and not at all like Ohio! I currently have one cat, Atlas who is rather dog like as he enjoys rolling in the dirt and will let you put him on a leash. Although if he decides he is done walking, you will need to pick him up!
I am getting ready for my next chapter in life and all the wonderful surprises that will come with new adventures. I am currently taking classes to become certified as a Spiritual Director through Loyola University. I began classes the fall of September 2023. I have enjoyed everything I am learning so far and am set to graduate, (hopefully) in May of 2024. I am a lifelong learner, and I love how learning challenges my thinking and pushes me to expand not only what I think but how I think about life, faith, and the follies of life. Which is what my blog is all about.
I have a deep love of people and hope that my musings on matters of faith are helpful to those who choose to read my words.
Peace,
Beth
