On July Fourth…

I am so excited!!! This year for the fourth of July, I will get to celebrate the holiday in Ohio. In the past, I have celebrated on the beach, at Disney world (never again, as it was wall to wall people) BBQ’s with family, and now, I get to be back in Ohio and celebrate the fourth there. I am really looking forward to it. From what I can discern, fireworks will be held on the fifth…so, I may have more fun chasing lightning bugs and eating homemade ice cream on the fourth.

Whatever I am doing, I will have a great time. Even if I am sitting in a hammock reading a book. Why you ask…because I will be retired and I can choose to do what I want to do. But more than anything, I will be grateful for the freedoms I enjoy and hope to continue to enjoy in the future.

I think a good question to ask in this season as we celebrate our freedom is this: For what are we grateful? I don’t know what your answers will be to that question…but for me…I am grateful to all those who have served in all the branches of our military. They have fought and protected the freedoms we all get to enjoy. I am grateful for my dad who was a Marine, my husband who was in the Air Force, my son-in-law who retired from the Army, and my stepson who was in the Navy. I am grateful to all my friends and family who have served and for the sacrifices they made. I am grateful to our founding fathers who had an incredible vision for a new nation and for the way they knew what they were trying to accomplish was historic. I am grateful for family and friends I have made along the way. And I am grateful for so much more!

I hope that whatever your plans are for the July Fourth holiday, you enjoy your time with people who mean a lot to you. I hope you are able to do something you enjoy. I hope, more than anything, that you are safe and happy.

Peace,

Beth
